German startup Cultimate Foods has secured €2.3 million in seed funding to scale up production of its functional ingredient, CultiFat, and expand operations. Led by High-Tech Gründerfonds, the round also included investors like Life Science Valley Wachstumsfonds and Big Idea Ventures. CultiFat, made from beef and pork fat cells using cell ag technology, enhances the taste and texture of plant-based meat. Cultimate Foods aims to address food industry problems by delivering meaty flavors consumers crave while reducing CO2 emissions and unethical animal farming. The startup has developed hybrid prototypes and conducted trials with major food industry players.
