Sea6 Energy envisions a future where the abundant oceans will be our biomass farms of tomorrow - to provide solutions in energy, agriculture and food. To do this, we have assembled a multidisciplinary team with professionals from diverse fields like Industrial automation, Plant pathology, Ocean Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Marine biology and Aerospace Engineering - all with the goal of building a whole new economy based on marine biomass. Agriculture on ocean circumvents a lot of the problems posed by traditional feedstock such as land use and opportunity costs, freshwater requirements, and nutrient use, especially for a country like India where there is immense scarcity of such resources. Growing seaplants on a large scale captures and recycles carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and the useful nutrients from the sea which have washed into the sea from land. The fact that sea plants grow in the ocean means that they do not utilize scarce resources like land and freshwater for biomass production. In addition, there is no requirement for fertilizer either. From this biomass, Sea6 Energy is developing technologies to convert this into biofuel, plant growth stimulants, plant defence products, animal feed ingredients and other bio-renewable products to replace chemicals and plastics - Effectively creating a Bio-refinery out of marine biomass, churning out a whole variety of products leaving nothing to waste.
