Windlab Systems is a world-leader in the development and application of atmospheric modelling systems used to locate and develop wind energy sites globally. Currently the identification of potential wind energy sites is highly speculative. Windlab Systems has demonstrated an ability to locate “better wind energy sites, faster”.
Windlab Systems works both individually and with partners, using its suite of prediction and analysis tools to identify and develop prospective wind energy sites, with better wind resources and a lower risk profile. Its technological advantage has enabled Windlab to rapidly build an advanced portfolio of high quality wind farm sites totalling more than 6,500MW of potential capacity across Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. 270MW of this are now operating and a further 1,500MW are permitted and expected to reach financial close in the next 18 months.
Windlab Systems was founded in 2003 and is a spin-out from CSIRO. Innovation Capital invested as lead investor in 2007. Windlab Systems are headquartered in Canberra, Australia with offices in Cape Town and Ann Arbor, MI, USA.
