SiTera was a fabless semiconductor company that designed and built chip sets for communications and networking equipment companies. SiTera's chips were used as incremental additions to existing architectures or together as a complete system in network components such as routers and switches. The company was acquired by Vitesse Semiconductor in June 2000.
