Virunga Power is focused on developing profitable and sustainable power generation and distribution systems on a community scale in rural areas of sub-Saharan Africa. We engage local and regional stakeholders to tailor renewable power solutions to match local needs and resources. Our current projects in development include small hydro, biomass, and solar PV generation projects between 3 and 20 MW capacity across East Africa.
Virunga Power is dedicated to improving access to efficient, reliable electricity in rural communities across Africa and allowing those communities to benefit from the development advances electricity has provided global citizens for over a century. We believe universal access to electricity is an essential input to sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa and can have transformative effects on the livelihoods and prospects of rural communities in particular.
