For newer MacBook models (Released Late 2013+) there are no current SSD upgrades. People are stuck with what they purchased.
The entry rMBP13" comes with 2.4GHz - 128GB SSD . 4GB of onboard memory. It is configurable to 256GB (But only at the time of purchase).

TarDisk 256 can change all of this! By offering a tool-free upgrade that doubles (or even triples) the onboard storage of your Macbook by adding up to 256GB of extra space.

We Love MacBooks and we built TarDisk to Match:
The unibody MacBook is carved from a single aluminum block with precision CNC lathes that specialize in making aerospace and medical components. at the center of this unibody aluminum enclosure sits apple’s “entirely flash-based architecture that makes everything you do incredibly fast and responsive.”*
At TarDisk we set out to do match this level of perfection. Each TarDisk is carved from a single aluminum block with precision CNC lathes that specialize in making aerospace and medical components. At the center of TarDisk’s uni-body design sits our 256GB Flash storage chip built from with industry leading flash controllers, creating incredibly fast, responsive storage. Better still this sits flush inside your MacBook!

TarDisk is the first and only tool-free upgrade that doubles (or even triples) the onboard storage of your Macbook. TarDisk adds 256GB of extra space while sitting perfectly flush in your MacBooks SD port.
Small doesn’t mean slow TarDisk leverages your high-bandwidth PCIe bus connection to directly transfer data to your system when needed out performing a 7200RPM External USB Hard Drive.

Our Story:
After a stressful visit to an Apple Genius Bar with a completely full hard drive in my MacBook Air, I simply needed a way to store more files. As someone who uses my MacBook everyday, this solution needed to work without requiring me lug around extra bulk or delete any of my existing files. The only options available were time consuming, expensive or would void my Macbook's warranty. I could not accept the "official answer", that there were no easy ways to upgrade the hard drive in a MacBook.

06.06.2017TarDisk seamlessly expands your MacBook's storage [Review]In its quest to make its laptops smaller, lighter and faster, Apple has made modern MacBooks harder -- if not impossible -- to upgrade. Take my mid-2013 MacBook Air for example. It comes with an SSD design for which there are only a handful...
07.07.2016How much storage does your laptop need? The question nags as I prepare to review TarDisk Pear flash memory expansion. The doohickey is available in 128 or 256 gig capacities for either MacBook Air or Pro. It fits neatly and snuggly into the SDXC card slot, which is required; colo...
19.11.2015Eyes-On With The TarDisk Pear, An SD Card-Sized Hard Drive That Doubles A Mac’s Storage CapacityBrian Heater, Tech Times 19 November 2015, 06:11 pm From what I can tell, the main downside of the TarDisk Pear is the incredibly unfortunate name. You're willing to forgive that pretty quickly, however, as soon as you see the thing in acti...
29.10.2015The TarDisk Pear SD Card Merges With Your MacBook's SSD To Bring More StorageChristian de Looper, Tech Times 29 October 2015, 03:10 pm While there are plenty of SD cards that are designed to perfectly sit in the MacBook's SD card slot and be used for extra storage, none of them integrate with the computer quite like...
