Spur is a Canadian energy company that is focused on the Clearwater play in northern Alberta. The Clearwater is unusual among most current North American oil plays in that the wells are not fracked, which reduces costs and water usage, and also leads to a more stable production profile. The combination of low capital costs, strong production results and large scale resource has led to Spur’s success. The company has grown from a few hundred barrels per day at inception in early 2017 to 20,000 barrels per day as of January 2021.
