Educated at IIT and Harvard, Meeta could solve most problems but struggled to figure out how to keep her little boys engaged in activity that was safe and fun. Good toys were hard to find in India. The ones in the market were plastic, unimaginative or simply too expensive.
Every time she travelled abroad, Meeta stuffed her bags with toys. Eventually, she grew tired and decided to solve the problem for good. She located toy-makers in India and worked with them to design toys that were non-toxic, fun and useful.
The results were great. Not only did her boys love them, so did their friends!
Meeta decided to spread the cheer.
And Shumee was born. The one-stop shop for toys you can trust.
Shumee toys are made from solid, natural wood, and are handcrafted by expert toymakers who understand how to combine safety with fun. Each toy is painted using high quality, safe, water-based paints. No plastic whatsoever. No lead. Or any other harmful, toxic chemicals. And the toys last a really, really long time.
Why Shumee?
Because children do more than play with toys. They learn with them.
Give them names. Share them (er...sometimes). And invariably, as every mother knows, they put them in their mouths. That means one more thing to worry about – are the toys your child is playing with truly safe? And not just in an “it’s not sharp” or “it doesn’t have small, ingestible parts” kind of way. The question to really ask, whether your child is six months or six years old, is if they are made from safe, non-toxic materials.
