
SciBac began with the idea for a breakthrough gene transfer technology and colleagues with the expertise and vision to turn it into a reality. Founders Jeanette Mucha, a microbiologist, immunologist, prolific inventor, and Ironman triathlete; Anthony Cann, PhD, expert in microbial metabolism and inventor of strain improvement techniques, he has brought technology from test tube to large scale fermentations; and Derik Twomey, a microbiologist, fermentation specialist, with R&D expertise, worked together previously at Cobalt Technologies to produce valuable strain improvement IP and strain libraries that were sold to Solvay/Gran Bio for $4M.
