Sanotech is an innovative start-up company founded in September, 2018 by Dr. Muzaffer Kanaan, a faculty member at the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Erciyes University (Kayseri, Turkey). Sanotech was founded to build upon 3 years of research and development work on wearable medical devices and TENS technology in particular. The company's flagship product, WearTENS™, is an easy-to-use, truly wearable TENS device in the shape of a shoe insole that can fit inside a shoe and be controlled using a mobile app. The cloud capabilities of the WearTENS system allow the medical practitioner prescribing the use of the device to assign treatment protocols and remotely monitor patient compliance, treatment effectiveness, and usage experience, making WearTENS™ a truly smart TENS device. The company has received seed financing from the Entrepreneurship Support Program at TUBITAK (Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) in 2018, being one of only 146 business plans selected for funding out of a highly competitive pool of over 3300 applicants. The company’s innovative, patent-pending products and services were also recognized by the grant of a Leaders in Innovation Fellowship by the British Royal Academy of Engineering in 2019.
