The Business
Headquartered in Chandlers Ford, with sites across Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire, Raymond Brown Minerals and Recycling (RBMR) is a leading regional integrated aggregates and recycling business. It has three business streams:
Provision of responsibly sourced, quality assured aggregates from a network of strategically positioned quarries
Processing and recycling of Incinerator Bottom Ash (IBA). IBA is the residue from “energy from waste” power stations. The incinerators are fed with a mix of household and commercial waste and RBMR’s Fortis IBA division processes the ash to extract recyclable materials and then sells the remaining material for use in construction projects.

Elysian saw Raymond Brown as an attractive opportunity given:
Its market leading positon built upon regional critical mass and a strong reputation for product and service quality and environmental responsibility
A strong asset base that has been well invested in over the last 3 years, including a new quarry in Romsey and a new IBA facility near Andover
Long term contracts within the IBA division
Growth potential within each business stream due to strategic mineral reserves, strong customer relationships and opportunities to expand the footprint.
Progress to Date
Since 2016, management working with Elysian have achieved:
Sold the Waste business in October 2019 to a regional waste business allowing management to focus on the more value added parts of the group
Opened a third IBA processing site and secured a contract to underpin a fourth
Achieved planning on two new reserves at existing quarries and secured exclusivity on significant future reserves
