Dr. David Stern has taken the company from the basement of an urgent care clinic to a 250-employee operation.
Starting in 2002, Dr. Stern worked with Drs. John Koehler, FACEP, and Terry Buzzard, FACEP, to develop an urgent care-specific electronic medical record and practice management software. The three physicians collaborated with a team of programmers to design and launch PiVoTs. The modified EMR template went live in six clinics that year.
Practice Velocity introduced PVMSM practice management software in 2006. A year later the company launched PV Billing services, and in 2009 the company unveiled VelociDoc™. The award-winning electronic medical record for urgent care and occupational medicine centers is now used by 99 percent of Practice Velocity clients.
In 2014, the company moved into new headquarters in a renovated Kohl’s department store in the former Machesney Park Mall. The headquarters features an open-concept design, with collaborative meeting spaces that fosters teamwork. Practice Velocity stresses four core values for each of its team members: team player, positive energy, continuous improvement and clients win.
Practice Velocity's flagship product is its VelociDoc EMR, marketed exclusively to urgent care clinics for electronic storage of health information and records. The product includes chief-complaint driven templates to speed up record input and coding recommendations to aid in the billing process. The system is integrated with LabCorp, Quest and more than 800 regional and specialty labs.
Services include PVM, the company’s practice management services, which helps clinics increase collections, customize protocols and monitors performance with more than 370 reports. PV Billing offers clients software and training to increase collections, reduce the number of claim denials, track performance and verification of insurance coverage.
Contracting & Credentialing services help urgent care clinics contract with insurance providers, arranging flat rates, carve-outs, referral restrictions/requirements, pre-authorization, and urgent care codes.
