PIVOT is an app that reveals to users images, videos, and information based on a specific location during a specific time period. Multimedia changes as either location changes, or as a different time period is selected. PIVOT's mission is to streamline digital historical and cultural preservation in areas where the history of places and cultures are at risk of being lost or areas with rich tourism potential.
Through use of its multi-platform app PIVOT will implement a proof of concept in Historic Palestine (Palestine/Israel), where the idea was conceived. PIVOT is building a web-based, easy-to-use, and eventually crowd-sourcing content management system (CMS) that updates the mobile-app platform in real time.
PIVOT’s goal is to be a high quality, widely used open-sourced platform that enables everyday users to digitally streamline historical and cultural preservation in the places they know the best. PIVOT also has the ability to improve diminished tourism sectors throughout the world.
PIVOT is the grand prize winner of the Harvard innovation-Lab’s 2014 Dean’s Cultural Entrepreneurship Challenge.
