PANNA is a website for Pesticide Action Network North America, a non-profit organization that works to create a just, thriving food system by replacing the use of hazardous pesticides with ecologically sound and socially just alternatives. PANNA offers information, resources and campaigns on various issues related to pesticides, such as health impacts, environmental justice, organic agriculture and corporate accountability. PANNA also connects with other regional centers of Pesticide Action Network International, a global network of over 600 organizations in 90 countries.
Some of the products that PANNA provides are:
Reports and publications on pesticide-related topics
Online tools and databases for tracking pesticide use and regulation
Educational materials and webinars for farmers, consumers and activists
Action alerts and petitions for policy change and public engagement
Newsletters and blogs for updates and analysis
PANNA’s pricing is based on donations from individuals, foundations and progressive businesses. PANNA does not accept any funding from corporations or governments that could compromise its independence or integrity. PANNA also encourages its supporters to join its monthly giving program or become a sustaining member.
PANNA’s categories include:
Food & Farming: promoting agroecology, organic farming and food sovereignty
Health & Environment: protecting people and ecosystems from pesticide harms
Global Solidarity: building alliances with other movements for social justice
Corporate Accountability: challenging the power and influence of pesticide corporations
PANNA’s competitors are mainly the pesticide industry lobby groups such as CropLife America, American Chemistry Council and Biotechnology Innovation Organization. These groups advocate for more deregulation, less oversight and more profits for pesticide manufacturers at the expense of public health and environmental sustainability. PANNA exposes their tactics, counters their misinformation and mobilizes public pressure to hold them accountable.
