Palmetto Moon

Palmetto Moon was born from humble beginnings. After sending their youngest daughter off to college, Karen and Robert Webster opened the small shop as a seasonal kiosk in Charleston’s Citadel Mall on November 1st, 2002. Recognizing that most collegiate merchandise could only be purchased on campus, the Websters decided to offer fan apparel from the local universities and South Carolina state products. This quickly put Palmetto Moon on the map as the go-to collegiate headquarters. After a very successful holiday season, the Websters opened the first Palmetto Moon storefront in the spring of 2003, and a southern lifestyle destination was born. 
 As more locations opened the following years, Palmetto Moon maintained its homegrown roots, as both of Karen and Robert’s daughters and husbands also became involved in managing and operating stores. It truly was a family affair, and further established the value of local community and Southern roots to the brand. Charleston, South Carolina was once considered a sleepy southern beach town, known for its rich heritage and history…and also some pretty good shrimp and grits! Through the years, though, Charleston has evolved from a casual tourism spot, to a flourishing coastal metropolis – a much sought after place to live and visit. Growing with the trends, all the while preserving its southern culture and coastal lifestyle. Just like it’s hometown, Palmetto Moon has grown from a singular, family-operated storefront in South Carolina, to 28 locations scattered throughout the Southeast. Still headquartered in Charleston, Palmetto Moon’s upbringing continues to resonate with the company. We are always chasing the trends, but we stay true to where we came from, deeply rooted in familial values, a sense of community, and a strong appreciation for all things southern. 
 As we continue to grow, we concentrate on delivering the same foundation established by the founding family, as those roots are near and dear to all of our hearts.
