Community powered Free Education
Hotspot School (hotspotschool.org) is our approach to competing in the Global Learning XPRIZE - a $15 Million dollar competition sponsored by Elon Musk to meet the challenge of educating 250 Million kids world wide without basic literacy or numeracy skills and no access to teachers or schools (or Internet). Hotspot school is about building a community of educators, developers, teachers, parents, schools, universities and students who want to develop educational content powered by HTML 5 that can be quickly and easily deployed to communities around the world. In simple terms we're building a different type of turbulenz (ga.me) with a wider range of content - or alternatively a better offline khan academy that uses gamification and story telling to educate. We're looking to operate a number of competitions in schools and universities to launch our community and at the same time promote our platform as a way to do STEM education with a purpose.
