NGP ETP III was formed to invest growth equity in innovative technology companies seeking to transform global energy markets. Mr. Hurlbut has spent two decades working on climate policy, finance, technology, advocacy, law, politics, and media. He served in the Obama Administration as US Department of Energy Chief of Staff and in the White House as the President's liaison to the energy and environment cabinet agencies. Mr. Hurlbut provided leadership and counsel to the White House and Cabinet Secretaries during high profile initiatives and challenges including deployment of $90 billion in clean energy investments under the Obama Recovery Act, the Fukushima nuclear accident in Japan, the Gulf oil spill, and Hurricane Sandy. At the DOE, Mr. Hurlbut served on the investment committee for its $38 billion clean energy fund. After public service, he co-founded Boundary Stone Partners, a government affairs firm and is a Senior Advisor to NGP ETP III, which is investing in companies with products, services or technologies serving the renewable energy, power, energy storage, energy efficiency, environmental, and transportation sectors. Mr. Hurlbut serves on the board of directors to Sparkfund, Swell Energy, Sunrise Movement, and Solutions Project. Mr. Hurlbut is a co-host of “Political Climate,” a bipartisan podcast about climate issues sponsored by the USC Schwarzenegger Institute. Brandon holds a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and BA from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mr. Fischer joined NGP ETP III in March 2020 and serves as a Senior Associate. He concentrates on NGP ETP III’s sourcing, analysis, and execution efforts for new transactions and monitoring activities for its existing investments. Prior to joining NGP ETP III, Mr. Fischer spent nearly three years as an Associate at NGP, where he focused on evaluating new investment opportunities and portfolio company monitoring for the Firm’s energy private equity funds. Mr. Fischer received a B.B.A. in Corporate Finance with a minor in Accounting in 2014 from the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with High Honors
