We built MathforMoney to improve our declining financial literacy rates, both locally and globally.
The MathforMoney app contains real-world math problems that children need to solve daily, in order to unlock points. If they reach their points goal by the end of the week, they unlock the pocket money that was set out by their parents. In doing so, we're encompassing the 3 core skills, identified by the OECD, that are necessary to improve financial literacy. That is:
1. Understanding basic numeracy
2. Learning how to apply that numeracy to the real world, and
3. Building sustainable habits of earning and saving
By ingraining these skills and habits in children from a young age, we aim to help our future generation to not only become financially included, but empower them to become financially independent.
