LiNa Energy is a developer and provider of low-cost solid state sodium batteries, with a focus on the renewable energy storage market. LiNa Energy was created as a spin-out of Lancaster University, where the founders Dr Gene Lewis and Dr Richard Dawson combined their expertise in ceramics and electrochemistry and applied this to the problem of energy storage. Since then, the company has developed an innovative solid state sodium-based battery technology which offers superior safety and sustainability standards compared to lithium-based batteries. Thanks to its patented design and use of abundant raw component materials, LiNa’s batteries are lower cost to deploy and offer higher performance than lithium-ion alternatives. LiNa Energy is privately held and run by a leadership team comprising the original founders and talent drawn from energy sector and big four consulting firms.
