The IIC connects top-performing US and Indian graduates with Indian public sector enterprises for one-year assignments that tackle discrete and tractable but important social challenges. The IIC trains its fellows in the US and India, and places them at a partner Indian public sector institution. They work with the partner institution to complete a project that produces impactful outcomes, thereby learning how to rapidly innovate and implement solutions in complex settings. Projects could range from improving the uptake of a local vaccination program to reforming building codes, from implementing effective food distribution systems to designing effective sanitation programs. The IIC has an organizational structure similar to Teach for America or a consulting company, with the pace and aspirations of Silicon Valley startups.
