IDEM Systems was founded in May 2015 to develop and commercialize research funded by the National Institute of Justice to improve field drug testing, as well as other on-site chemical analyses. We have developed a patented field drug testing system consisting of a handheld spectrometer device, drug-indicating test strips, and a mobile app with access to a cloud-hosted library database of drug standards. Our current model will cater to law enforcement and allow them to accurately identify unknown controlled substances on-site to increase time efficiency, avoid wrongful arrests, and use data mining to trace illegal drug supplies back to their source. With the drug overdose death rate continually increasing, it is important to act now to develop a better field drug testing method to help get illegal drugs off of the streets. We aim to provide customers with a product that yields accurate test results, is easy and safe to use, is adaptable to testing new illegal drugs, and is affordable.
