Launched in 2007, ‘Diabetes.Knowledge.Action’ is the nation’s award-winning public health awareness campaign from Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC).
It is now the UAE’s longest running public health awareness initiative. The campaign carries the patronage of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, and aims to help the nation prevent, manage and even reverse diabetes with a particular focus on lifestyle choices.
The campaign comprises of four specific actions to support a healthy lifestyle, falling under carefully considered campaign pillars – each reaching out across the community:
1. Cook for Life – looks to inspire families to cook healthy meals
2. Eat for Life – invites children, parents and carers to consider what is a balanced diet
3. Play for Life – promotes regular exercise for healthy living to employees through an annual football tournament
4. Walk for Life – encourages the community to take at least a 30-minute brisk walk each day
