Bringing hovercraft to the San Francisco Bay Area
Fly between San Francisco, SFO and OAK in 15 minutes via Hovercraft The existing transportation infrastructure in San Francisco is at capacity. Unlike most waterfront cities, San Francisco can't run ferries everywhere because of the very shallow water. Dredging is expensive and ecologically damaging. Instead, HOVR uses Hovercraft which move over the water on a cushion of air. Hovercraft are a proven technology from the 1960s and are used commercially in England to reach the Isle of Wight. Hovercraft haven't traditionally been used in the US due to the Jones Act preventing the import of the craft from the manufacturers in England. Instead, HOVR designs and commissions its own craft, built here in the USA.
