Freepoint Commodities is a merchant of physical commodities and a financer of upper- and mid-stream commodity-producing assets.
In addition, the company provides physical supply services and related structured solutions for counterparties. The company was founded in 2011 by Trident V and a senior management team that previously led Sempra Energy Trading Corporation and its successor company from 1998 until 2009.
Stone Point facilitated an introduction to a Trident fund limited partner that invested equity alongside Freepoint in an acquisition of a midstream pipeline. Stone Point’s relationships with investors have helped Freepoint secure investors for its merchant banking deals.
Stone Point helped Freepoint evaluate a number of strategic acquisitions. In addition, Stone Point helped the company acquire a proprietary trading system.
