Forcyte Biotechnologies is putting the Focus On Force in disease.
As mechanical force underlies important processes in all cells, it is a key functional component driving various diseases - (asthma, hypertension, preterm labor, intestinal dysmotility, many others).
Forcyte is commercializing the (UCLA-developed) FLECS Technology Platform for high-throughput analysis of contractile cell force. We develop assays, build hardware, supply software, and perform services to functionally characterize cellular force in high-throughput, down to the single-cell level!
Our mission is to:
1) enable the budding field of "Force Biology" to automate their data collection in a standardized format to allow for direct comparison between studies, and to ultimately remove the barriers to entry for all researchers
2) provide functional high-throughput data on cellular force to support drug development in pharma, including phenotypic drug discovery, functional quantification / dose-response, toxicology, off-target effects, and general confirmation that desired contractile function is ultimately achieved
