The world is searching for sustainable, non-petroleum-based feedstocks for the chemical industry. Indiana-based FiberX is initially focused on using corn stover, the agricultural by-product from Indiana’s rich corn fields, to produce bioindustrial resins and biocomposite plastics. FiberX has partnered with Purdue Universty’s School of Chemical Engineering and utilizes patent-pending proprietary technology to extract and depolymerize lignin from corn stover. This highly adhesive lignin feedstock is the basis of formaldehyde-free industrial resin. This new class of resin has numerous applications. FiberX’s first line of resin will be focused on the pressed fiberboard industry. Our corn stover feedstock is also the foundation for a line of formulations of fiber-reinforced biocomposite plastics.
