We did. But that wasn’t what seemed to be happening. We were sitting in god-awful office cubicles, doing mind-numbing work - and the future was looking like it would only be more of the same.
Realising that we were more afraid of not changing something than we were of stepping off the treadmill, we decided to do something different. Seeing there was nothing out there to help us build a new career, we made it our mission to help others make their own escape.
We built a job board, connecting people to alternative opportunities at progressive companies. We started running events, hosting escapee speakers. We ran a woodland festival, where businesses were launched from teepees. And then, having seen that far and away the most game-changing moments are when awesome, likeminded people get together, we launched community programmes that help people make meaningful, long-term change.
This is a global movement, made up of 300,000 people who believe in doing work that matters. We know the time has come to forget business-as-usual. Our vision is a world where work powers a happier and more sustainable future - where the importance of people and the planet is balanced with profit. This community is waking the world up to a different way of working, by proving that it really is possible. Join us.
