EMURGO is a derivative of the Latin word “emergo” which means to emerge, to surface, to rise or come forth, and is the venture building entity in the Cardano ecosystem. Its goal is to develop, support, and incubate commercial ventures and help integrate these businesses into Cardano’s decentralized blockchain ecosystem building applications focused on emerging markets.
Emurgo captures the transformative power that blockchain technology brings to the developing world. At the forefront of the Cardano blockchain’s design was empowerment of its users. Decentralized Applications built on Cardano technology and funded and supported by Emurgo will have the potential to bring forth transformative solutions unbanked and underbanked users in places such as South East Asia, Sub Saharan Africa, and rural Latin America.
