A project was set up to identify the possibilities for Condition Monitoring in rail drive system, wing turbine, marine industries and productions machines.
• Test rig with simulated real rail condition was used and 18 different bearing problems were introduced in gearbox and traction motor but now a day, DS has more than 578 mechanical problems and fault has already identified in our systems database.
• Accelerometers where placed on the machine with signal going in to DS-X
• The end result was very positive, all 18 bearing faults were identified, with the statement that Condition Monitoring with vibration sensors can be used to identify faults in an early stage independent of the heavy noise environment a rail vehicle is in.
