Connected Camps Summer of Minecraft was catalyzed by three girl geeks on a mission to make coding and digital arts accessible and fun for all kids. Tara is a technologist and entrepreneur who founded LA Makerspace so kids can make and learn in her local community. Katie is a game designer and force behind the creation of Institute of Play and its partner school Quest to Learn, a school centered on the connections between games and learning. Mimi is an educational researcher and advocate for connected learning, on a decades-long hunt to bridge education and entertainment.

After a successful pilot in summer 2014, Connected Camps welcomed over 2000 campers to their summer programs in 2015.

The learning approach and design of connected camps is backed by lots of research and testing in practice, and is part of the Connected Learning Alliance, dedicated to mobilizing new technology in the service of equity, access and opportunity for all young people.
