Composite materials have revolutionised a lot of industries: wind turbine blades, boats, printed circuit boards. They are made by combining fibers (carbon, glass) with resin.
They are strong, light, but not recyclable. The industry cannot separate the resin from the fibers at the end of their useful life.
So they are landfilled or incinerated. Millions of boats need to be recycled, and thousands of wind turbines are reaching the end of their life.
At Composite Recycling we have developed a highly energy efficient process to separate the resin from the fibres, and with EPFL we have made a post treatment that cleans the fibres and make them reusable in new composites, so we can sell them.

We are now industrialising the process, starting to recycle boat hulls and later wind turbine blades.
