Brain surgery involves accessing specific locations in the brain without perturbing others. The brain is incredibly dynamic and is very susceptible to damage. However, today's surgeries are based on pre-operative planning and do not account for the real-time conditions of the brain. We are developing a radical change to brain surgery that displays the real-time conditions, status, locations, and targets in the brain. This solution will make every brain surgery faster, safer, and enable outpatient surgical procedures which will drastically shift both hospital economics and the number of surgeries a single hospital can perform. We forecast a SOM of 1.5 B CHF. The founding team is Matt Lapinski, project leader at the Wyss Center, and Abed Hammoud, a serial entrepreneur in this domain.
