In April 2010, Saban Capital Group and Lionsgate Entertainment formed an equal partnership to operate and manage Tiger Gate. The joint venture was initially focused on a branded channel strategy in targeted Asian territories but in December 2011, Saban Capital Group and Lionsgate Entertainment merged their Tiger Gate Entertainment joint venture with Celestial Movies Channels, a wholly owned subsidiary of Astro, to form Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE). CTE, which is based in Hong Kong, is a diversified media company that operates branded pay television channels and produces and distributes content for Asian audiences. CTE’s channel bouquet includes Celestial Movies,Celestial Classic Movies, KIX, KIX HD and Thrill, with a footprint that spans Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia and China.
