CamBioScience Limited is a privately owned Life Sciences Company with bases in Cambridge (UK) and London. The CamBioScience Directorship is comprised of research active, PhD trained scientists from the University of Cambridge. All three Directors are involved in stem cell research at the Wellcome Trust – Medical Research Council Cambridge Stem Cell Institute. CamBioScience was initially formed as an academic-to-industry consultancy firm with UK incorporation in July 2015. Since its inception the overarching mission of CamBioScience has been to better connect the worlds of Bioscience industry and academia with the specific aims of facilitating mutually beneficial knowledge transfer, fostering innovation and creating new commercial opportunities in the Life Sciences. The early consulting activities of the CamBioScience team ranged from market feasibility analysis to event logistics and the development of novel integrated marketing solutions for large biotechnology companies such as Stem Cell Technologies, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Agilent Technologies. To meet its goal of integrating the academic and business worlds of the Life Sciences related sectors, CamBioScience began offering specialist events covering a broad range of topical subject matter, from single cell gene expression analysis to super-resolution microscopy and genome editing. Event formats included conferences, panel discussions, workshops and networking sessions. Early CamBioScience events were differentiated by the focus on breakthrough technical know-how and unique delivery methods including industry ‘flash talks’ and ‘under the bonnet’ discussions based around innovative technical problem-solving in the Life Science Research. As per the company’s mission, all CamBioScience events involve academics as well as industry professionals, both as attendees and speakers. At our events we invite leaders from both sectors to engage in very open, constructive discussions, whilst addressing the most influential contemporary issues and technological developments that are reshaping the basic science, Pharmaceutical and Biotech arenas. By mid 2015 the company had begun offering specialist training courses for academic and industry professionals in cutting-edge Life Science technologies. The highly targeted subject matter, world-expert instructors and short and intensive course structure attracts academics and industry professionals from around the world. Beyond knowledge sharing and copious opportunities for ‘open-innovation’, these workshops help to build strong relationships between present and future academic and industry leaders. On the commercial side, the carefully designed event format aligns seamlessly with the deployment of novel integrated and content marketing strategies, thereby laying the foundation for great partnerships with industry. The mutually beneficial experience for participants and companies alike all takes place within the context of leading academic institutions and with respected scientific and academic and industry figureheads contributing to enhanced impact. Since early 2015 CamBioScience has specialised in helping emerging and growing non-EU companies expedite European market penetration for their most high impact products. Stemming from this our business portfolio has now expanded to include the worldwide distribution of niche biotech reagents and laboratory equipment for Life Sciences and healthcare research. Our three core principles of ‘Research, Innovation, Results’ have been with us since our creation and transcend all of our business areas. ‘Research’ stands for our firm belief in the necessity of building a strong base of knowledge and understanding around a topic. ‘Innovation’ reminds us of the need to stay creative, to be ourselves and encourages us to attempt new things. ‘Results’ represents our data-driven and analytical approach to both science and business.
