Founded in 2019, Brimstone is a developer of a novel process that produces cement without carbon emissions while maintaining cost competitiveness with traditional cement.

The world produces over 4 billion tons of cement annually—a number only expected to grow. The problem is that cement production accounts for 7.5% of global CO2 emissions, with a total climate impact just behind cars. Brimstone has developed a breakthrough carbon-negative process to produce the same ordinary Portland cement and supplementary cementitious materials used today. These materials have the same quality and performance builders have trusted for over 150 years — now with a positive climate impact. Brimstone's investors include Breakthrough Energy Ventures, DCVC, Collab Fund, Amazon Climate Pledge, and Fifth Wall.
