BioGasol is a process technology company within the field of renewable energy. The core competences lie in the development and design of process technologies for the production of bioethanol and products such as bioplastics or biochemicals from lignocellulosic biomasses (e.g. straw, sugar cane bagasse, corn stover, wood chips etc.). BioGasol can provide high-performance pretreatment equipment, the "Carbofrac", which builds on process knowledge obtained from working with more than 30 international customers. The product range includes Carbofrac 10 for small demonstration or pilot plants and the Carbofrac 400 for small commercial or demonstration plants, both of which have been sold to overseas customers. A 12 ton pr. hour system, Carbofrac 1200, for large commercial plants is being developed. BioGasols sistercompany Estibio (www.estibio.com) works with industrial partners on scaling-up the Pentoferm continuous, high temperature (thermophilic) fermentation process, which utilizes the Pentocrobe microorganism, which has the unique ability to convert all sugars found in biomass to ethanol. BioGasol was started in 2006 as a spin-out from the Technical University of Denmark, where much of the R&D work was originally carried out. The first pilot plant was operated since 2006 and demonstrated a complete massbalance for a cellulosic ethanol (2. generation) concept. BioGasol and Estibio offices and pilot plants are located near Copenhagen, Denmark
