Alcazar Energy is a fund management company focused on investing, financing, and developing utility scale renewable energy capacity in selected emerging markets. Our first investment vehicle, Alcazar Energy Partners One (AEP-1), was established in 2014 by a highly qualified group of professionals with in-depth knowledge in renewable energy from an investment, project finance and technical perspective. By 2018, AEP-I had created the largest privately-owned project portfolio of renewable energy assets in the MENA region. This included five solar and two wind projects in Jordan and Egypt with a total 411 MW of operational capacity. This portfolio created a total of 4,200+ jobs, of which 80% were in-country, powered 275,000 households, generated 445,000+ tons of CO2 savings/year, 795,000+ m3 water savings/year, and allocated $15m over the life of the plants to social investment, mainly on education and sustainable small business initiatives within our local communities. In August 2021, Alcazar Energy completed the successful exit of AEP-I through a highly competitive auction which was won by a consortium led by China Three Gorges, one of the largest renewable energy players globally. After the successful exit of Alcazar Energy Partners (AEP-I), Alcazar Energy is now in the process of launching a new fund, AEP-II.
