In October 2008, ECP announced the formation of ADA Carbon Solutions (“ACS”) to develop and construct an activated carbon (“AC”) production facility.
ACS was formed in anticipation of federal and state regulations requiring mercury removal from coal-fired power plant emissions. ACS designed and built what Energy Capital believes is the largest, most automated and most environmentally friendly AC manufacturing plant in North America focused on mitigating mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants. The facility, which is called Red River and is located in Coushatta, LA, was completed in 2010, can produce 150 million pounds per year of AC. In addition, ACS developed its own dedicated source of raw material, the Five Forks Mine, located in close proximity to the Red River plant.
ADA Carbon Solutions, an industry leading provider of activated carbon specifically tailored for flue gas applications today announced a long term enterprise agreement with Covanta Energy Corporation (NYSE: CVA). Covanta is a leading global owner and operator of Energy-from-Waste (EfW) projects.
ADA-ES, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADES) announced today the formation of Crowfoot Development, LLC (Crowfoot), a joint venture with Energy Capital Partners (ECP), focused on the production of activated carbon (AC) for the mercury emissions control market for coal-fired power plants.
