Our vision is a world where smallholder farmers are empowered with long-term opportunities and market access that enable them to live healthy, dignified, and prosperous lives. A world where local food systems are equitable and work in favor of small producers, not against them. A world where all workers in food systems are paid fairly. Acceso was originally founded by President Clinton and philanthropist Frank Giustra as an initiative of the Clinton Foundation. Acceso’s mission is to create fundamental and lasting economic change in the lives of rural smallholder farming families. Our pioneering entrepreneurial model provides smallholder farmers with a sustainable way to participate in formalized markets, enabling them to work themselves out of poverty with dignity and to prosper. Acceso focuses on five key initiatives: empowering farmers to improve agricultural production, guaranteeing market access, boosting local social entrepreneurship, improving food security, and market linked reforestation. Acceso’s current social enterprises in Colombia, El Salvador, and Haiti have generated over $60M for more than 15,000 smallholder farmers and farm workers. Current portfolio: Acceso Colombia, the leading Colombian smallholder sourcing business in the Andean and Caribbean regions, supplying national supermarkets, retailers and restaurants. Acceso El Salvador, the largest smallholder producer sourcing company in El Salvador supplying +60 types of fruits and vegetables, and fish and seafood to the quality markets. Acceso Haiti, one of few successful social agribusinesses in Haiti that has developed the largest formalized network of small farmers in the country, sourcing peanuts, mango, and moringa for both local and export markets. Acceso works regularly with leading multinationals such as Pepsi, Unilever, Marriott, Walmart, and Club Med to conduct feasibility studies and pilot programs to expand sustainable sourcing or last-mile distribution opportunities.
