The Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) will host six sessions at the 2026 ASSA Annual Meeting in Philadelphia. These sessions honor George Judge’s centennial, exploring his impact on econometrics. Topics range from agricultural trade to GLP-1 drug demand. Hilary Hoynes will deliver the T.W. Schultz Memorial Lecture, focusing on the social safety net and children’s outcomes. Judge’s work centers on extracting reliable data from complex systems. New testing procedures assess parametric distribution assumptions. Research addresses treatment effects under dependence. Information-theoretic approaches tackle underdetermined problems. AAEA invites media coverage of these events.

The AAEA is preparing for a significant presence at the 2026 ASSA Annual Meeting. Philadelphia will host the event. Six sessions are planned. AAEA extends an invitation to the press.

George Judge’s contributions are central. A special session marks his 100th birthday. His work reshaped econometrics. He tackled data challenges. His research spanned multiple areas. Spatial modeling was key. He emphasized predictive performance.

New research will be presented. One study tests distribution assumptions. It uses differential entropy. The method is efficient and automated. Another explores treatment effects. Dependence across units is considered. Optimal experimental design is examined.

Information theory is also a focus. Complex problems often lack unique solutions. An information-theoretic approach offers a solution. It uses constraints and decision functions. This contrasts with partial identification methods. Simulations will compare the two approaches.

Hilary Hoynes will deliver a keynote. The T.W. Schultz Memorial Lecture is a highlight. Her topic: the social safety net. She will discuss its impact on children. Hoynes is a leading economist. She studies poverty and inequality.

AAEA’s scope is broad. It covers agriculture, the environment, and food. It also includes health and international development. The association has 2,500 members. They work in academia, government, and industry.

AAEA publishes several journals. These include the *American Journal of Agricultural Economics*. *Applied Economic Perspectives & Policy* is another key publication. *Choices* is an online magazine. *Applied Economics Teaching Resources* is also available online.

The sessions cover diverse topics. Agricultural trade is under scrutiny. Wine markets are also examined. GLP-1 drugs and food demand are analyzed. Agrifood value chains are another focus. Wholesale markets in Africa and Asia are studied.

Judge’s legacy is one of innovation. He sought reliable information. He addressed uncertainty. His work is relevant today. The AAEA sessions will showcase this impact. They will also present new research. This research builds on his foundation. It addresses contemporary challenges.

Media access is encouraged. Complimentary registration is available. Contact Paityn Connolly for details. The AAEA aims to share this research widely. It seeks to inform public discourse. The organization’s commitment to applied economics is clear. Its work has global implications.
