This innovative technology represents a significant step forward in the quest for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), a concept that has long been the holy grail of AI research.

According to reports from Reuters, OpenAI's Strawberry project is a new approach to AI models that aims to enhance their reasoning capabilities. OpenAI recently showcased a demo version of the Strawberry project, highlighting its new human-like thinking skills. The company hopes that this innovation will significantly enhance the reasoning abilities of its AI models. Strawberry incorporates a specialized method of processing AI models after they have been pre-trained on large datasets, allowing them to refine their work in specific ways.

Experts in the field of AI agree that reasoning in the context of AI involves creating a model that enables AI to plan actions ahead of time and effectively solve complex multi-step tasks. Strawberry includes a unique method of "post-training" generative AI models, allowing them to fine-tune their work in specific ways after being trained on generalized datasets.

Drawing parallels to a method developed at Stanford in 2022 called "Self-Training Reasoner" or "STaR," Strawberry is poised to elevate AI models to higher levels of intelligence through iterative creation of their own training data. Stanford professor Noah Goodman commented, "I think it's both exciting and frightening... if things continue in this direction, we as humans will have to consider some serious implications."

OpenAI envisions that Strawberry will enable AI models to tackle tasks with a broader horizon (LHT), requiring them to plan ahead and execute a series of actions over an extended period. The company plans to leverage these capabilities for conducting research by autonomously browsing web pages using a computer agent. Additionally, OpenAI intends to test the AI's capabilities in performing software engineering and machine learning functions.

During a recent internal meeting, OpenAI discussed a new roadmap for AGI development, acknowledging that they have only reached the first stage out of five possible levels. With Strawberry at the forefront of their efforts, OpenAI is pushing the boundaries of AI research and inching closer to the elusive goal of achieving Artificial General Intelligence.
