Onehouse, a leader in data lakehouse technology, secures $35 million in Series B funding to advance open data lakehouse technology. The company aims to enable interoperable data lake technologies with new funding from Craft Ventures, Addition, and Greylock Partners. This funding will accelerate product development and market penetration, bringing the company's total funding to $68 million. Onehouse's roots in Apache Hudi technology, originally developed at Uber, provide a competitive alternative to Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake table formats, focusing on interoperability. Microsoft and Google have joined Onehouse to back the OneTable open source data lake table format interoperability technology, now known as Apache XTable. Onehouse's Universal Data Lakehouse platform offers an interoperable solution for organizations to use different table formats, data catalogs, query engines, and cloud providers. CEO Vinoth Chandar emphasizes neutrality to query engines and clouds, optimizing data for any engine or catalog chosen by the user. XTable, with Microsoft and Google's backing, provides omnidirectional interoperability across data lake table metadata. Microsoft Fabric integrates XTable for translating between Snowflake writes with Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake reads. Onehouse's commercial Universal Data Lakehouse platform, powered by Apache XTable, offers a neutral, efficient, and interoperable solution for data management. The upcoming Apache Hudi 1.0 release will bring a new concurrency model, support for unstructured data, secondary indexing system, and vector search indexes for improved indexing and query planning. Onehouse aims to provide a database-like experience on top of data lakes with Apache Hudi advancements. Stay tuned for the general availability of Apache Hudi 1.0 in the coming months. Onehouse's $35 million Series B funding will support the launch of two new products: Onehouse LakeView, a free cloud service for monitoring and insights, and Onehouse Table Optimizer, a managed cloud service for optimizing tables to accelerate data ingestion and ETL processes. Onehouse continues to revolutionize data lakehouse technology, providing innovative solutions for efficient data management and performance optimization.
