Hyundai Motor India is leading the charge in the electric vehicle (EV) revolution in Tamil Nadu, with the inauguration of its first 180 kW DC fast charging station in Chennai. This marks the beginning of the company's ambitious plan to set up 100 such facilities across the state, making it easier for EV owners to charge up and hit the road.
Hyundai's fast charging station at Spencer Plaza in Chennai is equipped with 150 kW and 30 kW connectors, catering to all compatible four-wheelers, regardless of brand or model. This move is a significant step towards enhancing the EV ecosystem in Tamil Nadu and encouraging more customers to make the switch to electric vehicles.
Jae Wan Ryu, Executive Director - Corporate Planning at HMIL, expressed the company's commitment to progress and humanity through the installation of these charging stations. The goal is to make it convenient for all EV users to access charging facilities, with the option to pre-book slots, make digital payments, and monitor charging status remotely through the myHyundai App.
In addition to the fast public charging station, Hyundai has mapped over 170 charging points in Tamil Nadu on the myHyundai app, ensuring easy access for both Hyundai and non-Hyundai EV users. This initiative is a testament to Hyundai's dedication to promoting sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions in the state.
As Hyundai celebrates 28 years in India, the company's foray into the EV charging infrastructure is a clear indication of its commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability. With the promise of 100 more charging stations on the horizon, Hyundai is paving the way for a greener, cleaner future in Tamil Nadu.
