In a groundbreaking move that is set to reshape the landscape of cancer survivorship care, OncoveryCare has secured a substantial $4.5 million in seed financing. This funding marks a significant milestone for the company, formerly known as VivorCare, as it embarks on a mission to revolutionize the way cancer survivors are supported post-treatment.

The need for improved survivorship care is more pressing than ever, with the population of cancer survivors in the United States projected to double from 11 million in 2008 to 22 million by 2030. This surge is driven by both the increasing incidence of cancer and the advancements in treatment that have led to improved survival rates. However, despite this growing population of survivors, the post-treatment needs of these individuals are often overlooked.

Cancer survivors face a myriad of challenges after completing active treatment, including the management of cardiotoxicity, cancer-related fatigue, complex screening and monitoring protocols, as well as mental health issues such as anxiety and depression stemming from their diagnosis and treatment. The current survivorship care system is fragmented and lacks structure, relying heavily on an overburdened oncology workforce, resulting in high costs and suboptimal outcomes.

OncoveryCare, under the leadership of CEO Hil Moss, herself a breast cancer survivor, is stepping in to address this critical gap in the cancer care continuum. The company is introducing a novel survivorship care model that provides comprehensive support for survivors through a team of specialized clinicians. Key focus areas of this model include toxicity management, mental health support, navigation and care planning, and preventative care.

To facilitate the implementation of this innovative care model, OncoveryCare has forged a strategic partnership with Tennessee Oncology, a leading community-based cancer care provider. Tennessee Oncology, which treats half of Tennessee's cancer patients across 35 sites, is also a founding member of OneOncology, a platform dedicated to supporting independent oncology practices through capital, technology, and expertise.

The recent seed financing round, led by .406 Ventures and supported by Oncology Ventures and Techstars, will empower OncoveryCare to expand its care delivery model and develop new tools and approaches to broaden access to high-quality survivorship care. By offering comprehensive, whole-person care, OncoveryCare aims to ensure that the rapidly growing population of cancer survivors receives the personalized, longitudinal care needed to lead healthier and happier lives.

Hil Moss, the Co-founder and CEO of OncoveryCare, emphasized the importance of survivorship care, stating, "Survivorship is the next frontier in cancer care delivery. For decades, we have been focused on finding the cure for cancer. Now we have to answer the question: what happens when people survive?"

With a clear vision and a commitment to filling the clinical gap in post-treatment support for cancer survivors, OncoveryCare is poised to make a lasting impact on the lives of those who have bravely fought and conquered cancer. The company's launch with $4.5 million in funding marks the beginning of a new era in cancer survivorship care, one that prioritizes the holistic well-being of survivors and ensures that they receive the care and support they need to thrive beyond their cancer journey.
