ULEMCo, a Liverpool-based company specializing in converting commercial vehicles to run on hydrogen fuel, has secured over £5 million in funding. The company's innovative 'dual fuel solution' (H2CED) allows heavy duty vehicles to operate on hydrogen while still using diesel when necessary, offering a practical and effective alternative for fleet operators looking to reduce carbon emissions without replacing their existing fleet.

Founded by cleantech expert Amanda Lyne, ULEMCo has seen a surge in demand from businesses and local authorities, particularly in Scotland. The company's partnership with Aberdeen City Council has resulted in 55 hydrogen-enabled vehicles in the city, showcasing the growing importance of hydrogen in the transition to clean mobility and achieving net zero emissions.

The funding round, led by Mercia Ventures and supported by existing investors Equity Gap, the North West Fund, and Scottish Enterprise, will enable ULEMCo to expand its skilled conversion team and develop new products in hydrogen dual fuel, fuel cell, and zero-carbon emission combustion. With plans to create around 100 new jobs across the UK in the next three to five years, ULEMCo is poised to drive the implementation of clean fuel solutions with immediate benefits.

As the world shifts towards sustainable transportation, ULEMCo's innovative technology offers a glimpse into a future where heavy duty vehicles can operate efficiently and environmentally responsibly. With hydrogen playing a crucial role in the journey towards net zero emissions, ULEMCo's vision and capabilities are set to make a significant impact on the clean mobility landscape.
