TECH Fort Worth was founded in 1998 and is a public-private non-profit (501c3) partnership with the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth, the City of Fort Worth, and the North Texas business community. TECH Fort Worth provides programs and services to emerging technology firms to help them develop their technology and deliver it to the world. These technologies impact the environment, empower the community and improve healthcare.
WHAT DO WE DO? The creation of new companies is at the heart of economic growth. The technology incubator is a valuable mechanism to link talent, technology, capital, and know-how to leverage entrepreneurial talent, accelerate the development of new technologies, and strengthen the local economy. TECH Fort Worth is about MENTORING, CONNECTING and COACHING. Through our programs, we mentor entrepreneurs to build their business. Through focused interactions, we connect entrepreneurs with resources and through ongoing evaluations we coach them toward financial stability. Our time and expertise is invested in emerging small businesses and entrepreneurs that demonstrate the potential for economic and commercial success. Our main goal is to produce successful firms that leave our programs financially viable and freestanding.
WHO DO WE SERVE? There isn’t a ‘typical’ face to our client entrepreneurs: our youngest is 18; our oldest client is 65. We work with men and women; college students, displaced executives, and small business owners; some have graduated college; others have their doctorates; yet others have nothing more than a high school education. The one commonality they have is a hunger to take their technology to the next level.
WHAT IS OUR IMPACT? Clearly, our work impacts the economy – our program graduates have the potential to create jobs, revitalize neighborhoods, commercialize new technologies, and strengthen local and national economies. But imagine for a moment a pill that would manage the amount of potassium in your blood – which could reduce or eliminate the need for dialysis. What if there were eye drops that would make reading glasses unnecessary? This isn’t science fiction – these are actual projects on which TECH Fort Worth clients are working!!!! THIS is the impact that the funding we receive helps to make happen.
Since 1998, TECH Fort Worth has been working to bring together, inspire and increase the number of technology entrepreneurs in the area. The Incubation and Acceleration programs began in 2007, and new technology-based companies were attracted to the area to start and grow their businesses. In 2009, even as the nation experienced a recession, TECH Fort Worth’s clients grew and added to the local economy. In 2012-2013, our clients had an impact on the local economy of more than 55 MILLION dollars!
