GreenLight Fund

Each year in each of our sites, GreenLight Fund partners across all sectors of the community to identify unmet needs that if addressed could open opportunities for children and families facing barriers to economic mobility. GreenLight finds proven social innovations effectively addressing the community-identified need elsewhere in the country and invests and builds additional partnerships to scale that program to the GreenLight city for long term impact. GreenLight uses a consistent annual process led by the GreenLight city’s executive director in collaboration with the Selection Advisory Council, an inclusive group of local leaders knowledgeable about and committed to their community. The process includes a landscape analysis to identify high priority gaps, a search across the country for effective programs addressing those gaps, a thorough due diligence process and ultimately an annual selection for the proven program with the best local fit. To ensure sustainability, GreenLight makes a multi-year investment, develops strategic partnerships for co-investment and implementation, provides on-the-ground support for the selected program, and measures effectiveness against targets. GreenLight is in 10 cities today and each city implements the selection process annually. GreenLight has selected more than 34 portfolio organizations so far, strengthening opportunities for children and families facing barriers to prosperity, and is committed to continuing to grow the network and scale what works.
