EyeFocus Accelerator, the world's first tech accelerator focussed on startups looking at problems associated with preventing, curing, and living with eye disease and blindness. It will launch in early 2015, based between Berlin and London. EyeFocus is fully independent, and sponsored by Bayer, Zeiss Ventures and Peppermint Ventures. It will bring together experts from the digital health startup space, investment, and ophthalmology to promote innovation in a huge market that is in need of disruptive products. Globally, 280m people are visually impaired, and 39m totally blind. 80% of eye disease can be cured, but innovation is required to help diagnose and treat it.
