1s1 Energy is a San Francisco startup company developing breakthrough materials technology for a new generation of PEM water electrolysis systems for green hydrogen production. The company currently has operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and in Portugal.
To be able to meet the ambitious goals of decarbonizing our economy within a timeframe that could have a significant impact in curbing climate change, we need solutions that move away from fossil fuels and that can be implemented at scale within the decade. Employing green hydrogen as a feedstock for gas for chemical production would have the most impact on reducing carbon dioxide emissions. In 2020, several countries have committed over USD 500 billion toward green hydrogen production, with leading efforts from the European Union, Australia, Japan, and Korea.
We have founded 1s1 Energy with a straightforward goal in mind: increase the economic viability of green hydrogen within the required timeframe. We are employing material and engineering innovations to produce economically viable and scalable proton exchange membrane (PEM) water electrolysis components and systems.
