Simpa Networks

Simpa Networks designs and markets high quality solar home systems that are sold on a pay-as-you-go basis to consumers living at the Base of the economic Pyramid (“BoP”). Consumers take home a system for a low down payment, then purchase energy service (kWh) in small user-defined increments using a mobile phone. Each payment also accumulates towards the final purchase price and once fully paid, the system unlocks permanently and delivers free solar energy. To introduce this “Progressive Purchase” pricing model, we have invented, built, and field tested our patent-pending Progressive Purchase Technology. We are launching first in India, where we have secured a partnership with a leading solar energy services company to pilot our innovative products and pricing model. We leverage the relatively new and efficient distribution channels for mobile airtime and money transfer so consumers can make payments via a mobile phone. We help our customers switch away from the expensive fuel-based lighting and energy systems that are currently costing up to 30% of their income. The business model is disruptive and highly scalable, reimagining the value chain for delivering energy access at the base of the economic pyramid.
